The Zone Editor feature allows you to create, edit, and delete Domain Name System (DNS) zone records.
DNS converts human-readable domain names (for example, example.com) to computer-readable IP addresses (for example, 192.0.0.1).
DNS relies on zone records that exist on your server to map domain names to IP addresses.
To add a new zone record, click the + Add New Record button.
You can add three types of records: A, MX, and CNAME. This will likely change as WP Squared matures.
You can edit any of the current records by clicking the pencil icon. You can also delete any of these records by clicking on the trash can icon.
Please note that if you are a customer with one of our reseller partners, he or she may configure your Zone Editor access to not allow you to edit all of these zones.
If any options are missing, contact the reseller or our support team if you are sure who to turn to.
WP Squared DNS Zone Editor: Navigate Your Website's Domain Adventure! ️
Ever wondered how your website name (like cozycafe.com) magically leads visitors to your online kingdom?
It's all thanks to the DNS Zone Editor, your mapmaker that translates these friendly names into addresses computers understand.
Think of it like translating pirate ship names ("The Salty Kraken") into map coordinates for other buccaneers to find their treasure!
Using the Zone Editor:
- Add New Records: Click the "+" button, like planting a flag on your digital map. Choose from three record types:
- A Records: Think of these as signposts pointing directly to your website's IP address (the treasure!).
- MX Records: These guide emails to your inbox, like having dedicated mailboxes for different departments in your pirate crew.
- CNAME Records: Imagine these as shortcuts, directing visitors to another part of your website (like sending them to a specific island within your digital archipelago).
- Edit Existing Records: Need to update your map? Click the pencil icon and make your changes. Think of it as adjusting the location of your hidden treasure based on new discoveries!
- Delete Records: Not using a certain path anymore? Click the trash can to remove it, like clearing unnecessary markers from your map to avoid confusion.
Important Notes:
- Check with your Reseller: If you're working with a reseller, they might have special settings for your Zone Editor. Think of it as different pirate crews having slightly different map formats. Check with them if something seems missing.
