This guide will show you how to install WordPress using the Quick Install option in Softaculous, making it easy to set up a new site quickly.
Pre-requirements
- Access to cPanel or another control panel with Softaculous installed
- Administrator login credentials
- A domain name or subdomain for WordPress installation
Steps to Install WordPress Using Quick Install
- Log in to cPanel
Access your cPanel by visiting https://example_domain.com:2083 and log in with your credentials.
- Open Softaculous End-user Panel
In your cPanel dashboard, click on the Softaculous icon or link to open the Softaculous End-user Panel.
- Select a Script
On the left side of the Softaculous panel, you will see a list of script categories. You can select a script from any of these categories or choose from the top scripts displayed in the center. In this example, we are installing WordPress under the Blogs category.
- View Script Details
After selecting WordPress, you will see details like ratings, reviews, and demo URLs for the script. During the installation, you will also have the option to install recommended plugins.
If there is a plugin you frequently use that is not listed, let us know, and we can consider adding it to make future installations easier for you.
- Choose Quick Install Option
To proceed with the installation, click on the down arrow next to the Install tab. You will see two options: Quick Install and Custom Install. Click on the Quick Install option.
- Fill in Installation Details
- Domain: Enter the domain name where you want to install WordPress.
- Directory: If you want to install WordPress in a subdirectory (e.g.,
https://example_domain.com/blog), specify the directory. To install WordPress in the root of the domain (e.g.,https://example_domain.com), leave the In Directory field blank. - Admin Login: Fill in the admin username, password, and email for your WordPress installation.
- Install WordPress
Once all details are filled in, click on the Install button to start the installation process. The installation time may vary depending on the size of the script and server performance, so please be patient.
- Access Your Installed WordPress
After the installation is complete, Softaculous will provide links to your new WordPress site and the admin dashboard. Click on the links to access the site or the WordPress admin panel.
Gotchas to Avoid
- Correct Directory: Ensure that the In Directory field is left blank if you want to install WordPress in the root of your domain.
- Strong Admin Password: Use a strong password for your WordPress admin account to secure your site.
