  • 0

This guide will show you how to install Joomla, a popular content management system (CMS), using Softaculous in cPanel. The steps are similar for other scripts available in Softaculous.

Pre-requirements

  • Access to cPanel or another control panel with Softaculous installed
  • Administrator login credentials
  • Basic understanding of the script you want to install (e.g., Joomla)

Steps to Install Joomla Using Softaculous

  1. Log in to cPanel

Access your cPanel by visiting https://example_domain.com:2083 and log in with your credentials.

  2. Open Softaculous End-user Panel

In your cPanel dashboard, click on the Softaculous icon or link. This will open the Softaculous End-user Panel.

  3. Choose the Script Category

On the left side of the Softaculous panel, you will see a list of script categories. Select a category from this list. In this example, we are installing Joomla, which belongs to the CMS category.

  4. Select Joomla

Once you choose Joomla, the script details will appear, including ratings, reviews, and a demo URL. Click on the Install tab to proceed.

  5. Fill in Installation Details
    • Choose Script Version: From the drop-down, select the desired version of Joomla you want to install.
    • Enter Domain and Protocol: Specify the domain name and protocol (e.g., http:// or https://) for the Joomla installation.
    • Admin Details: Fill in the admin username, password, and other required details.
  6. Start the Installation

Once all the details are filled in, click on the Install button to start the installation process. Please note that installation time may vary depending on the size of the script and server performance, so be patient.

  7. Access Your Installed Joomla

After the installation is complete, Softaculous will provide links to access the Joomla site and the admin dashboard. Click on the links to go directly to the site or the admin homepage.

Gotchas to Avoid

  • Backup Before Installing: If you already have an existing website, ensure that you back up your files and database before proceeding with the installation.
  • Correct Directory: If you want Joomla installed in the root of your domain (e.g., http://example_domain.com), leave the directory field blank.

By following these steps, you can easily install Joomla (or other supported scripts) using Softaculous in cPanel. Once the installation is complete, you'll be able to access your Joomla site and begin managing content immediately.
