Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is a mechanism that uses TXT records placed in a domain's DNS settings to protect your domain against spoofing and to help prevent your outgoing messages from being marked as spam.
Why SPF Matters
SPF specifies which mail servers are allowed to send emails on behalf of your domain. Receiving mail servers use SPF records to verify that incoming messages that appear to come from your domain were indeed sent by authorized servers. Without SPF, messages sent from your organization or domain are more likely to be flagged as spam by receiving mail servers.
Creating an SPF Record
To create a TXT record for your outgoing sending domain, use the following details:
"v=spf1 include:spf.antispamcloud.com -all"
Modifying Existing SPF Records
If you already have an existing SPF record, you can simply add the following entries:
a:6205.submission.antispamcloud.com
a:release.antispamcloud.com
Gotchas to Avoid
- Ensure you do not exceed the DNS lookup limit for SPF records (10 lookups).
- Regularly review and update your SPF records to accommodate changes in your email-sending services.
