What is SpamExperts? SpamExperts is an email filtering service that manages email deliveries, including queuing and retrying messages when errors occur.

Understanding Message Queuing

Typically, emails are directly delivered to the destination server. However, in cases where the delivery attempt encounters a temporary failure, emails sent to known valid recipients are queued locally on the filtering servers for retry.

Important Notes on Delivery

  • Emails permanently rejected by the destination server with a 5xx error code will NOT be queued; they are simply rejected.
  • If the destination mail server acts as a catch-all for the domain, valid recipients must be explicitly set as Local Recipients in the SpamExperts control panel for queuing to occur.
  • If a recipient is not cached as valid, the message will be temporarily rejected and queued at the sender's server instead of on the filtering server, unless Local Recipients is enabled.

Accessing the Email Queue

Customers with an active SpamExperts service account can access the email queue through the web interface. From there, you can manually retry the delivery of any queued messages.

Gotchas to Avoid

  • Ensure that valid recipients are configured in the SpamExperts control panel to avoid unnecessary queuing issues.
  • Monitor the email queue regularly to manage any delivery retries efficiently.
